Through the recent research, it has been identified by Stuart E. Lucas that the following reasons of the philanthropic giving from the wealthy people:

  • make a profound impact
  • believe that privilege and good fortune demand responsibility to others
  • want to acquire social capital
  • feel some guilt over their good circumstances
  • driven by the inspiration of others
  • want tax relief
